Staying in Chang'an for three days, quietly gaining fans from an old hotel
To be ashamed, as someone who travels around the Pearl River Delta all year round, I have been to Chang'an, Dongguan no less than ten times, but I have never stayed in a hotel seriously. On the day of check-in, it was evening and the car was parked at the hotel entrance. The doorman ran over to help my mom carry things and even helped hold the car door. The room is more spacious than I expected, and the street view of Chang'an Town is outside the landing window. In the evening, you can see the snack stalls with lights along the street and the neighborhood for walking. My mom is most satisfied with the bathroom, where the anti slip mats are neatly laid out and the shower head is just right in height. After taking a shower, she said, 'It's even more comfortable than at home.'. The bedding is soft but not collapsing, and the pillows are moderately soft and hard. As someone who knows beds, I slept until dawn, even my dad said it's rare not to wake up at night.
Breakfast is my mom's biggest expectation for this trip. The restaurant is not big, but it's as lively as a neighborhood cafeteria. The steamed shrimp dumplings have thin skin and large filling, and my mom ate four of them in one go; The noodle soup was smooth and tender, and she even drank the broth when it was topped with soy sauce. A few local aunties at the table next to me saw that my mom was eating well and took the initiative to recommend a nearby sweet water restaurant. They also taught her how to take the bus to the park. My mom made two 'new friends' on the spot and said she would come again next time.
In the afternoon, I took my parents around the hotel and walked for a few minutes to reach the central park. The greenway was flat and easy to walk on, and my dad took a walk along the lake twice, praising the good air quality. There are many local snacks hidden in the old neighborhood next to me, such as roasted goose paste, sugar paste, and double skin milk. My mom has been eating and taking photos all the way, and her phone's memory is almost running out. It takes ten minutes to take a taxi to Lianhua Mountain, where you can see the entire Chang'an Town from the top. My dad stood on the observation deck and took twenty minutes to take pictures before he was willing to go down the mountain.
In the evening, when I returned to the hotel, the lobby bar was quiet. I ordered a cup of tea and sat down to chat with my parents. The waiter brought a small plate of almond cake made by the hotel and said it was a small Dim sum for the guests. My mom took a bite and said, 'Take this back and give it to your uncle to taste.'.
On the day of check-out, the front desk girl handed my mom a bag of tea, saying it was local Phoenix Dancong, and asked her to drink it on the way. My mom held their hand and said thank you several times, which made me feel a little embarrassed being around.

A good place to stay in Chang'an Town - a worry free short trip to tears
Last weekend, I had the sudden idea to take my family to Chang'an, Dongguan for a visit. When booking a hotel, I looked around and finally chose the old international hotel in the town that has been open for many years Parklane Hotel Changan Dongguan. It has been proven that the decision to "book casually" this time made the entire trip as smooth as if it had been arranged by someone else.
Take an intercity bus from Guangzhou South Station to Humen Station, then transfer to a bus directly to the center of Chang'an Town. Get off and walk for a few minutes to see the hotel gate. Facing the main road in front of the door, the bus hub is right at the entrance. Two stops to the left lead to Wanda Plaza, and three stops to the right lead to Jinxiu Zhonghua Folk Village. No matter where you go, you don't have to worry about how to take a taxi. The hotel front desk also thoughtfully prepared a hand drawn map of the surrounding area, clearly indicating the nearby parks, shopping malls, and food streets, even writing down which sugar and water shops only open at 2pm in the afternoon.
After packing our luggage, we went out the door. Walk for five minutes to Chang'an Central Park. The banyan trees on both sides of the greenway cover the sky and the sun. My dad walked around the lake and said the air is good. Next to the park is the food street in the old city. Steamed rice noodle shops, roast goose shops, and pot restaurants are crowded. An old local shop's dry fried beef wok is full of gas. My mother asked me if I could pack another one after eating. The next morning, we went to the Lianhua Mountain Country Park next to us again. The starting price for taking a taxi was within reach, and the observation deck at the top of the mountain could offer a panoramic view of the entire Chang'an Town. The children ran around on the lawn all morning, but refused to leave.
In the afternoon, we took a bus to the nearby Chang'an Library. It was so quiet that we could only hear the sound of flipping through books. After coming out, we walked for ten minutes to reach the Cultural and Art Center, which happened to be a local calligraphy exhibition. After finishing, we took a seat at the nearby caf é. In the evening, I took a taxi to the busiest snack street in the town. The garlic oysters and Congee in casserole stalls fed the family with satisfaction. It was only a 15 minute walk back to the hotel.
What impressed me the most was the hotel's shuttle service. On the last day, we had to go to Humen High speed Railway Station to catch a train. We informed the front desk in advance, and they arranged a special car that would arrive at the station entrance in just over 20 minutes, neither too early nor too late. The driver said that he has been running this line for several years, starting from the hotel to Humen, going to Shenzhen, and going to Guangzhou all on the same line, almost without taking any detours.
My biggest experience after staying for three days is that if you choose the right place to stay, your trip is half done. Parklane Hotel Changan Dongguan doesn't need any fancy gimmicks. Just a few phrases like 'the station is right outside, the park is within walking distance, and it takes a few minutes to take a taxi to the scenic area' are enough to give me a complete sigh of relief as I travel with my elderly and children.
